Choosing NWOS is Easy
Some insurance plans, such as PPOs (Preferred Provider Organizations), do not typically require a referral to a specialist. If your insurance does not require a referral, please call our office directly to set up an appointment, 888-660-2663.
Just 3 Easy Steps
- Ask for a referral from your healthcare provider.
- Your provider’s office will submit a referral request (available here) to NWOS by fax at 509-462-1470 (or by phone at 888-660-2663 if the referral is for an urgent appointment such as a fracture).
- An NWOS team member will contact you directly to set up an appointment within 24 hours.
Even if your insurance plan does not require a referral, getting a referral from your primary care provider is often a good idea so that our specialists and your provider can coordinate care. This is especially true if you have additional medical conditions that may impact treatment or surgery.
Get a Referral
If your insurance plan requires a referral, as most HMOs (Health Maintenance Organizations) do, ask your primary care provider, urgent care clinic, or ER doctor to refer you to Northwest Orthopaedic Specialists. Some insurance plans require a written referral while others will accept a referral over the phone.
Once your appointment is scheduled, fill out the new patient paperwork and get to know your provider through their page on this website.
With three locations conveniently located in Downtown Spokane, the Northside, and Spokane Valley, our offices are located within an easy drive from nearly anywhere in the region.
A Few Things to Consider

If your injury occurs during the day, save yourself from the time and expense of an ER visit, and instead, consider visiting one of our three NW Orthopaedic Express clinics.
