Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
What is Carpal Tunnel Syndrome?
Overview of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
The carpal tunnel is a narrow passage from the forearm to the hand that contains the median nerve and several tendons. This tunnel has a floor and walls consisting of bone, and the roof is made of a thick ligament. When pressure increases in the carpal tunnel, it decreases the blood supply to the median nerve and causes the symptoms of numbness, tingling, weakness, and occasionally pain with potential damage to the median nerve. These symptoms occur when the median nerve is compressed in the carpal tunnel and typically occur at night. With constant use of the hand during the day, pain, numbness or tingling can occasionally become constant.

"Not only was Dr. Sestero professional in his work to fix my carpal tunnel, but he was a joy to be with. Other members of the staff that we visited with were also well trained and very friendly." — Nadine F.
"I developed carpal tunnel syndrome and Dr. Sestero ordered nerve conduction studies that verified the diagnosis. My surgery was done at Northwest Orthopaedic Specialists’ outpatient surgery. All the staff were excellent. The surgery and the results were excellent. I have no further symptoms. Recovery was very short and I would do it all again if need be." — Jess L.
"Awesome experience. We first came to Dr. Sestero a few years back for an injury my husband sustained, which was creating carpal tunnel symptoms. And indeed it was, and it was the second time he needed surgery on his right hand for this. He was able to get it done right away. All was well. "I needed it a couple years back, had to save money for mine, and I finally got it done. I'm almost three weeks post-surgery and doing very well. Everyone was absolutely wonderful. Brianna at the desk: wow, she is so amazing. Then all nurses and everyone, we are very, very happy, and since we had to pay for our surgeries ourselves, we are very happy we got such good service for our money. We both thank everyone, and if we ever need surgery again, we know where to go." — Theresa W.
"Had carpal tunnel surgery on in April 2013. The whole staff at the surgery center was great. I felt comfortable during the whole process. Everything was explained to me about the procedure, and I was on my way home sooner then I figured I'd be. I was called the next day to see how I was doing. Thank you to everyone involved on my case." — Scott
