Governor Inslee has announced a halt to elective surgeries due to rising COVID-19 cases. The governor's announcement applies to hospital surgical cases, but it does not apply to outpatient orthopedic surgical cases scheduled at the NWOS Ambulatory Surgery Center. The Surgery Center, as well as all NWOS Clinics and Express Walk-In Clinics, are open.
The COVID‐19 pandemic has altered almost everything about our lives. In health care, clinics, hospitals, and surgical centers are often short‐staffed, or overcrowded caring for COVID patients. This has forced many people to delay surgeries and treatment of orthopedic injuries and conditions, adding painful or debilitating waiting to an already stressful situation.
After over a year of remote learning due to the pandemic, students are back at school for in‐person education. While attending school is a wonderful opportunity for learning, social development, and physical activity, those benefits don’t come without risk. NWOS hopes this year’s back‐to‐school time will result in developing student behaviors and habits for healthier bodies that can be maintained for a lifetime.
