The Gift of Giving
NWOS and Our Community
The pandemic increased individual and non-profit needs for food, financial help, and medical assistance across the region. NWOS is doing our part to help local non-profits meet those needs. We hope you will consider helping by donating your time, talents, or extra funds through the links below.
Spokane Tree of Sharing
For nearly forty years, Spokane Tree of Sharing and agency partners have provided a gift to fulfill the wish of 8,000 people of all ages in the community, especially those often overlooked. NWOS is proud to be part of that effort, both as a company and through individual donations by our wonderful employees. This year, instead of having a physical tree at various locations, the Tree of Sharing gift tags will be entirely online, making it even easier to help. There are several ways to give, from selecting a tag from the online tree and dropping off a new, unwrapped gift at one of the local malls to purchasing an agency-curated gift from Amazon Smile and sending it directly to the Tree of Sharing warehouse. For more information, contact the Tree of Sharing.
Spokesman-Review Christmas Fund
For years, Catholic Charities and the Volunteers of America, in coordination with the Spokesman-Review, has supplied food and toys for thousands of families in need at Christmas. This year, the need is greater than ever because due to the changing circumstances around pandemic restrictions, they’re unable to coordinate the usual distribution of food and toys, so they need to raise additional funds at the last minute and save the 2020 toys for 2021. NWOS is supporting the Christmas Fund again this year in their time of need. If you would like to donate as well, please visit their website for donation information.
2nd Harvest Food Donation Drive
2nd Harvest feeds people in need in 21 counties in Eastern Washington and five counties in North Idaho through a network of partner food banks, meal sites, and other programs. NWOS strives to support 2nd Harvest and its mission of feeding our community’s less fortunate through a monetary donation and a food donation drive held at all five NWOS clinics and Surgery Center. The NWOS food donation drive runs from the beginning of November through the second week of December. If you would like to donate, please drop off your food donation at any NWOS clinic. If you cannot make it in and still want to contribute to 2nd Harvest’s mission, consider donating food or giving a financial donation by visiting this link.
The Arthritis Foundation’s Jingle Bell 5K Run
NWOS is sponsoring the Arthritis Foundation’s 2020 Jingle Bell Run — Inland Northwest. The pandemic added to the area’s need, so the Arthritis Foundation now helps 75% more people receive the help they urgently need. The beloved event is going virtual this year. How do you run virtually? First, sign up and download the app. Then, on December 11-13, log in to the app from any location, choose your favorite outdoor 5K route, or do a 5K on your treadmill. Every runner receives the exclusive Jingle Bell Run short sleeve t-shirt, unique medal, and water bottle/laptop sticker. For more information about Jingle Bell Run — Inland Northwest, email the Arthritis Foundation’s local staff.
Meals on Wheels Spokane
The Meals on Wheels Spokane program has been delivering hot, nutritious meals to elderly, disabled, homebound seniors in Spokane since 1967. With more than 400 volunteers, they serve over 450 meals daily and more than 160,000 meals each year. NWOS is proud to sponsor Meals on Wheels Spokane as a Mission Advocate and contribute to their Holiday Giving program, Holidays for the Homebound, to help provide every homebound senior in Spokane a gift this holiday season. To donate or learn more about Meals on Wheels Spokane and their work, visit the Meals on Wheels Spokane website.
Ronald McDonald House
For 30+ years, Ronald McDonald House Charities Spokane has provided temporary lodging and support for Inland Northwest families of children accessing medical services. Often, RMHC provides for families dealing with medical emergencies, with many arriving via helicopter or ambulance. The average length of a family’s stay is 26 days. RMHC Spokane provides its services at no charge and recently opened a brand-new campus, so they can help even more families in need. For several years, NWOS has loved supporting RMHC in its mission, and for the upcoming year, NWOS is excited to continue that support by adopting a room in the new building.
Thank you!
We can help others because of our fantastic patients. Thank you for supporting us so we can support the community.
